This review is long overdue. We worked with Pamela Leone from LA Dwelling to remodel our mid-century modern kitchen from a cramped and outdated mess to a gorgeous and well-functioning centerpiece of our home.
Pamela was prompt and professional in the height of the pandemic. I had ideas of what I wanted, and she had the know how and the connections to turn my dream into reality.
I was happy to work with Pamela and LA dwelling, and they will be my first contact for any further renovation projects.
It is a joy to collaborate with Alison Glen of LA Dwelling – she creates spaces that are beautiful, original and functional – and highly personalized to the client’s needs and aesthetic preferences.

When we started our Kitchen renovation project, we interviewed some of the most well -known kitchen design building companies in the area to discuss our sizable kitchen project. We found Angela Harrison Seri on Houzz and we met with her as well. While we were a bit overwhelmed by the kitchen design firms, we were immediately impressed with Angela as she really listened to us and understood what we were looking for. We were also very happy that she planned to bid out our job out to 3 different contractors so we could get comfortable that we were paying a fair price.
One of the most important functions your designer should play is in preparing detailed drawings and specifications for the contractors to bid on. Angela’s drawings and specs were so detailed and well done that all 3 bids ending up coming within $5,000 of each other on a $150,000 job.
As you can see form the attached photos, we were able to get a brand new chef’s kitchen that still remained consistent with the existing character of our 1930’s Spanish style home. Angela worked very closely with us in selecting our kitchen finishes, but let us freely make all decisions.
We highly recommend you use Angela on your kitchen remodel. We jokingly refer to her as Santa because she provided us the best Christmas gift ever!

Alison was very patient in the design phase. She understood that we did not need to start right away and guided us through the design phase. She listened to input about how we use the kitchen and offered many design options. Not once did we feel that she rushed us thru the design. We really appreciated the fact that this became “our” design.
This kitchen turned into a great shared workspace. Alison created lots of useable space. The open design is exactly what we were looking for. At the same time, she created a great cooks’ kitchen – everything needed is handy with cleverly considered details.
Once the construction began, it was apparent that Alison was well connected with the trades. While every project has issues, they were remedied and the project kept on track.
We are very happy with the outcome. We love the kitchen and enjoyed working with Alison throughout.
Alison magically transformed our original 1954 blah kitchen into a gorgeous gourmet centerpiece in our home.
I found Alison through Houzz. I was attracted to her eclectic portfolio and its wide variety of styles and designs…nothing was cookie-cutter and each project injected some sort of personality into the designs. I interviewed several designers, and Alison’s calm and patient demeanor was refreshing. That sealed the deal, and we hired her to design our kitchen.
Alison guided us through the whole process, especially when decisions became overwhelming (appliances, fixtures, hardware, cabinets, countertops, and so much more). She also knew when to back off and let me take control. Every step of the project, she was available when needed, provided suggestions when asked, and offered up ideas when she saw an opportunity to save money or improve the design.
I truly appreciate Alison’s time, dedication, and expertise she applied to our project. Our beautiful kitchen has transformed our living space and is such a joy to cook in…thank you, Alison!
We are more than pleased with our new kitchen and we couldn’t have done it without Alison’s help. When Alison stopped by for our first consultation, I knew right away that I wanted to work with her. She was very easy-going, and listened as I did my best to describe my dream kitchen. Throughout the process, her guidance was invaluable. Alison (LA Dwelling) is fabulous– professional, fun, down-to-earth, easy to work with, and such an incredible eye/vision for design — she makes it seem so effortless. We ultimately ended up remodeling our entire home (kitchen, multiple bathrooms, living spaces, and bedrooms), and Alison truly made all the difference in how happy we were with the end product. She really took the time to help us pick out fixtures, tiles, paint colors, and anything else we needed, and took steps to help reduce our ballooning budget.
Our kitchen was the focus of our re-model, and she presented very creative options for potential layouts to truly increase the size, use of space, and functionality. She also checked in on-site regularly to make sure the contractors were following the plans to spec.
If we ever decide to pursue another home re-model, we would happily seek out her services again without hesitation!
The lovely and talented Alison Glen proved to be a great choice! Our renovations were extensive and involved a completely reconfigured 2nd floor layout to create a truly open-plan kitchen, turning a half-bath in to a new full-bath plus laundry room and still finding space to create a much needed new walk-in-pantry. In addition, she also redesigned our master and guest bathrooms. Alison helped us though every step of the process from space planning to design choices and ideas to actually going shopping for materials etc. In addition to the design work she also recommended a great contractor (Richard Grenier) and together they were a great team that I would definitely recommend and collaborate with again.

Alison quickly and accurately sized up our needs and our taste. She figured out how we could move a small amount of wall and dramatically increase the functional workspace in our kitchen. Alison did our kitchen for/with us. She made sure she understood exactly what we wanted and listened to us. Her ideas were innovative and she was never afraid to speak her mind. She had endless patience and spent as much time as was needed to track down materials and show us choices and never hesitated to put in the time needed. Alison Glen designed my friend Karen’s kitchen and it came out fantastic. Karen loves color (she has apple martini caesar stone counter tops!) and Alison got right in there with her. With Alison’s design expertise the kitchen is sohpisticated, unique and inviting. It is one of those kitchen’s you want to hang out in. I also love that it isn’t a kitchen design you see coming and going in every magazine, it is really special. It looks great and Karen is a great cook, so I know it works well too! I have hired Alison Glen Design to help me remodel our master bath.

This team is absolutely and incredibly AMAZING !!!!! I have been working with Angela specifically on a brand new kitchen , 4 bathrooms and a laundry room. I cannot express enough what a wonderful and stressless experience this has been. She is knowledgable, professional, punctual, caring and honest. She even went out of her way (which she didn’t have to by the way) to look for kitchen appliances and different outlets that were less expensive since they were out of the box or floor models saving me thousands of dollars.
She has gone above and beyond the scope of work we discussed with any hesitation or bother.

My husband and I contacted LADwelling when we suddenly decided to buy a house in Studio City, CA in order to be closer to our five grown children and their families. We live in Boston and wondered how we were going to rehab it when we are only there part-time. LADweling, and Angela Harrison Seri, were the answer. In five months Angela curated the gutting and renovation of a kitchen and four bathrooms in a sweet 70-year-old Tudor, without destroying its character. Angela’s artistry, energy, contacts in the trade, and patience made the house everything we had hoped it would be. She listened to every wish we expressed, guided us when we were going off the rails, and then made things happen. She knew exactly where to go for tile, how to find the best cabinet installer, who had the best glass shower enclosures. And she offered original suggestions that turned a pedestrian bathroom off of the pool into a showpiece. She was also lovely to work with every step of the way even when the usual problems arose.
I still can’t believe how fortunate I was to find LA Dwelling on Houzz! Alison and her design partner Pam produced stunning results. I had a fairly clear vision for my project (townhouse complete renovation) and throughout Alison and Pam met and exceeded my project goals with their attention to detail, product recommendations and sourcing, and suggestions. When something wasn’t quite right, Alison and Pam encouraged me not to settle. That type of sensitivity is indicative of the extra mile both Alison and Pam went to ensure my complete satisfaction. Angela was terrific–very professional, knowledgeable, intuitive, and pleasant. One thing I appreciated was her ability to offer insight and beneficial suggestions while respecting my own vision. She brought great experience, and her curiosity about the latest innovations in design and materials proved to be helpful not just to me but the contractor/subcontractors, too. I would guess that many people, like I, wonder whether hiring a designer is really necessary; in the long run, it was absolutely worth it.
Alison is lovely to work with. Calm and study, during any client freak out moments. She was right on EVERY decision and “held my hand” when I was doubting some decisions. She is a talent!! I was also very impressed with all her sources, which was a huge help to us, as we are new to the area and did not have any resources to turn to. Alison created a fabulous kitchen, beautiful hall bath and helped me throughout the home, selecting window treatments, paint colors and arranging furniture.
Alison helped us in the complete remodel and design of our South Pasadena home. She was with us from the very beginning, through all the planning and decisions. This was our first time doing a remodel and Alison was an incredible help in guiding us through the process. She worked closely with our architect and contractor to make sure everything ran smoothly. We had a 1950’s original home whose lay out did not work for our family. Without adding any additional square footage, she helped us redesign our home in a way that maximized the use of our space. We now have an open floor plan in the kitchen, a master bedroom with walk in closet, master bath, new bathroom for the kids, powder room and laundry room. Alison came with us when we shopped for fixtures, stone, tiles, appliances, paint, curtains and blinds. I loved that she brought suggestions or emailed us options to help us narrow what we wanted. This was incredibly helpful since I have an extremely busy schedule and not much of a decorator. I appreciated Alison doing so much of the leg work for us. From the beginning, Alison was very conscientious about our budget. This was crucial since we were doing so much to the house. A friend had recommended Alison, and I am so glad that she did. We love our new home and does everyone who sees it. There is no way we could have done it without all of Alison’s help. She was great!
I decided to convert two adjacent bedrooms into one studio apartment with a separate bath and entrance. The existing bedrooms had never been remodeled since construction in the 1960’s. They both had built in closets and cupboards. I couldn’t quite visualize the best use of the space. Enter Alison Glen! From our first meeting, I felt confident in her ability to create not just something utilitarian, but also something contemporary and beautiful. She quickly noted the best features of the rooms, large window, hardwood floor, and hidden high-beam ceiling, and did a couple of different floor plans. Although she had a contractor to recommend, she assured me that she would work with anyone I chose. Her manner was relaxed at all times, she was easy to reach, and to communicate with. Aside from her amazing design skills and wonderful personality, she was also extremely generous with her time. My new apartment is a great success, and all who see it are filled with admiration. I try not to take all of the credit!
Our 30 year old kitchen/ laundry room needed an update and Alison came up with a great plan to utilize the space in a way that makes the room look and feel bigger. Her brilliant suggestion of moving a door a mere 9 inches gave us 30 extra inches of counter top space and allowed us to put the oven between two counters. It made all the difference in the design. She understood what we wanted and her suggestions for floor, back splash and appliances were all spot on. She gave us great recommendations for contractors and vendors. No detail was too small for her. She was very calm throughout the process and was very good at handling any and all problems to alleviate any stress on us. We couldn’t imagine having done the remodel without her. We recommend her highly and without reservation.
I did a bathroom remodel. Alison held my hand throughout the process, making great suggestions, working within my budget, and offering a calm approach to the inevitable problems or concerns I had.
My wife and I could not have been happier with how our garage to bedroom conversion turned out. Alison was with us every step of the way! She responded quickly to our emails or phone calls and always had great input. I saw her previous work on LA Dwelling and wanted my garage conversion to look in her style and it does!
We used workers she recommended and yes there were some bumps along the way (them getting things wrong and taking too long) but the fact that Alison works with them regularly she was able to “crack the whip” and get everything taken care of. Even though it took twice as long as we were told it would her contractor, Mauricio Chavez, didn’t ask for any extra money. It was great meeting an HONEST contractor!
Also, to help us stay on budget she gave us this beautiful mirror for the bathroom, for free! I think that was above and beyond.
We were so pleased to have found Alison Glen (LA Dwelling) to help us with our home renovation project. We needed help to redesign 2 bathrooms as well as sourcing the color schemes for each of the rooms (ie living room, kitchen, hallways, bedrooms, etc.) in the house; she also helped us with lighting and flooring. I worked with Alison on my kitchen remodel and I recommend her wholeheartedly. We changed the layout of the kitchen and opened up walls, so it was a pretty extensive remodel. During this time, Alison also helped me with a new living room layout and powder room remodel. My kitchen had been flooded so I had no working kitchen during this process and it was extremely stressful! Alison kept me calm and on-track.
